Every year the Beutenberg Campus Jena e.V. awards two science prizes for outstanding work by young researchers in life sciences and physics. One prize is for the best doctoral thesis in the field. The second prize honours an outstanding scientific achievement by a young researcher.This year, for the first time, two equally outstanding scientists share the dissertation prize:
The Chinese doctoral researcher Dr. Qian Chen studied the role of the human immune system in severe kidney diseases during her PhD thesis at the Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology - Hans Knöll Institute (HKI).
In his Phd thesis at the Leibniz Institute for Age Research - Fritz Lipmann Institute (FLI), Dr. Dr.Alexander Schulz, medical doctor and scientists, investigated the disease Neurofibromatose Type 2.
The prize for the best junior scientist is awarded to Dr. Ute Neugebauer, chemist at the Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technologies (IPHT) and at the same time at the Center for Sepsis Control and Care (CSCC) at the University Hospital Jena, for her work on novel diagnostics for infectious diseases.
The prizes will be presented as part of the ‘Noble Gespräche’ series on April 16, 2015.
