The meeting was attended by about 60 junior scientists from different regions of Germany. The first day was organized by the HKI, the second by the FLI. The neighboring institutes offered institute tours, during which the participants could get an overview of selected Core Facilities - among others in the facilities Proteomics, Next Generation Sequencing, Animal Husbandry Fish and Imaging.
While the foundation's scholarship holders and alumni gave presentations at the HKI, they learned about various career opportunities in science at the FLI. This included various funding opportunities, tips on how to apply and information on research data management. During panel discussions research group leaders reported on their career paths in science. In addition, the companies Dynamic42 from Jena, PerioTrap Pharmaceuticals from Leipzig and Reselo from Stockholm presented their experiences with start-ups (as an alternative or supplement to a research career). The program was rounded off by evening events and a guided tour of the city at the end of the meeting.
