News

On March 11, 2016, the FLI took part in the first UniStem Day in Germany.

On March 11, 2016, whole Europe succumbed to stem cell fever. In eight European countries, 25,000 high school students gathered in institutes and universities to have a look behind the scenes of stem cell research and application.

The Leibniz Institute on Aging (FLI) was one out of eight German participating institutes. 100 students from Thuringian high schools came to the FLI to vigorously discuss issues of basic research and potential medical applications of stem cells in the light of the ethical debate which is held in Germany. The UniStem Day at the FLI was organized in cooperation with the Friedrich Schiller University and the University Hospital Jena.

The German-wide activities were initiated and coordinated by the German Stem Cell Network. The next UniStem Day will take part on March 17, 2017.
