On January 13, 2016, the Leibniz Association started the theme year "die beste aller möglichen Welten", celebrating the 370th anniversary of its eponym Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz. As first Leibniz event, the Leibniz-Council of Economic Experts debated on „Zukunft – nur mit Zuwanderung? Die sechs Leibniz-Wirtschaftsweisen im Gespräch“.
During the year 2016, event formats like "Leibniz debates", "Leibniz Arena", a big open air salon in Berlin as well as a myriad of regional events, expositions and lectures organized by single Leibniz institutes will cover all relevant aspects of daily life like energy revolution, demographic change, species protection or refugee crisis.
