The Ernst Jung Foundation für Science and Research (Ernst-Jung-Stiftung für Wissenschaft und Forschung) in Hamburg has announced this year’s winners of the awards and medals on January 8th, 2012 - the 36th anniversary of the founders death. Top scientists in the medical field from San Francisco, Tübingen, Jena and Hamburg will be honoured.

The Ernst Jung Foundation für Science and Research (Ernst-Jung-Stiftung für Wissenschaft und Forschung) in Hamburg has announced this year’s winners of the awards and medals on January 8th, 2012 - the 36th anniversary of the founders death. Top scientists in the medical field from San Francisco, Tübingen, Jena and Hamburg will be honoured.



Professor Dr. med. Peter Herrlich receives the Ernst Jung Medal for Medicine in Gold 2012 for his life time achievements. His path-breaking work concerning the development and growth of cancer cells, the information transmission between cells and their control mechanisms have profoundly contributed to solving basic molecular biological mechanisms that lead to cancer.



The Ernst Jung Medal for Medicine in Gold will be awarded within a ceremonial act on May 4th, 2012 in Hamburg.
