On July 11th 2012 an “Academic Internship” for students of Arnstadt’s Gymnasium took place at the Leibniz Institute for Age Research - Fritz Lipmann Institute (FLI) . It was part of a project week, which was held to help students decide on a course of study.

The boys and girls from grade 11 (interest group Medicine/Health care system) got an insight into the wide professional field of Age Research. After a short introduction into the topic, the students were given the opportunity to watch zebra fish in different development stages under the microscope and learn about dyeing techniques in a histology course. Afterwards, the training opportunities at the institute were presented. At FLI, students can train to become a biological laboratory technician or an animal care taker in research and clinics. Finally, age simulators were tried.

The project week has been organised by SKATinG, a project of the Society of friends and promoters of the TU Ilmenau designed to help students of Gymnasiums to decide on their professional future.
