Children discover the world every day: they observe, they marvel and they try things for themselves. To support this scientific curiosity early on, the Leibniz Institute for Age Research in Jena, together with the bilingual kindergarten BILLY, has now held a Science Day for preschoolers for the third time.

Professor Englert and his team had again assembled a varied programme for the children this year.

The 16 children were given the opportunity to learn interesting things about life and ageing, watch the scientists in the laboratories and do an experiment themselves. Besides tiny fish eggs and wriggly zebra fish larvae, they could even look at green fluorescent fish hearts and blood vessels under the microscope.

In return for his efforts, the children presented Professor Englert with colourful canvas pictures which had been created by Giada, Sinja and Ole for this occasion.
