2025 Groningen – Jena Aging Meeting (G-JAM)

The Groningen-Jena Aging Meeting (G-JAM) is a prestigious biennial conference series dedicated to advancing research on all aspects of aging. The next meeting will be held from September 24-26, 2025, in the historic Great Hall of the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena, Germany.

The Leibniz Institute on Aging – Fritz Lipmann Institute (FLI), Jena, Germany, and the European Research Institute for the Biology of Ageing (ERIBA), Groningen, The Netherlands, have teamed up to organize this meeting on aging. Join us from September 24 - 26, 2025 for a scientific meeting in Jena.

Aging is the single most significant risk factor for organ dysfunction and age-related diseases, but also represents an unresolved biological mystery. G-JAM 2025 aims to foster collaboration on aging research among leading researchers in different fields, and we are proud to host a stellar lineup of internationally renowned speakers from top institutions worldwide.

We believe this meeting provides an excellent opportunity for meaningful and intensive interactions, which are particularly valuable for young scientists. To support this, we will select a great number short talks from submitted abstracts in order to offer a large number of non-PIs the visibility ensured by a presentation at G-JAM.

We are excited about G-JAM 2025 and confident it will stand out as one of the leading conferences in aging research. We warmly welcome you to join us in September 2025 for this impactful and inspiring event.

Longevity Breakthroughs: Ready for Human Translation?

  • Following the conference talks – at noon on September 26th, 2025, at conference venue
  • Free of charge for conference participants (no extra registration required)

To promote public dialogue on aging research, we are organizing a science communication event on the final day of G-JAM 2025. The event aims at promoting public dialogue on aging research and is shaped as a panel discussion on translating aging research into real-world actions. The panel will feature top researchers, longevity doctors, journal editors, public figures in the longevity field, and policymakers. The discussion will be moderated by Matt Kaeberlein, a key opinion leader in longevity technology.

By inviting the press, we aim to amplify key insights, ensuring wider outreach and greater awareness. This event will foster public understanding and inspire informed dialogue on the future of longevity science.

Code of Conduct

The 2025 Groningen-Jena Aging Meeting (G-JAM) seeks to promote a safe and welcoming environment for all participants. Our event highly values the diversity of opinions, perspectives, experiences, backgrounds, and expertise of all participants.

The mission of the 2025 G-JAM Meeting is to amplify the significance of science relating to aging. Topics discussed during the event may spark vigorous debate and divergence of opinions. We view this as a valuable asset. Fostering an environment where such discussions thrive is fundamental to our mission. Nonetheless, it is important to delineate between healthy debate and disrespectful behavior. If the discourse crosses this boundary, there is no longer room for a productive exchange.

The 2025 Groningen-Jena Aging Meeting has a strict Code of Conduct. We expect all participants to treat everyone with respect and consideration, communicate openly and thoughtfully with others, be considerate of the multitude of views and opinions that are different than the own, be respectful and mindful in their critique of ideas and be mindful of their surroundings and of fellow participants.

We are committed to providing a meeting experience free of harassment, intimidation, discrimination, physical or verbal abuse, sexism, and other forms of inappropriate behavior. This includes, but is not limited to, sexual harassment, discrimination based on gender or gender identity, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, national origin, culture, or religion and disrespectful disruption of presentations. We will not tolerate harassment or bullying in any form. All participants, including attendees, speakers, sponsors, and volunteers, are expected to adhere to this Code of Conduct throughout the event venue and conference-related social events. Any violations of this policy will be dealt with promptly and effectively. Anyone requested to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately. The G-JAM staff (or their designee) may take any action deemed necessary and appropriate, including immediate removal from the meeting without warning and potentially without refund.

[Our Code of Conduct is based on the following publication:

Favaro, B., Oester, S., Cigliano, J.A., Cornick, L.A., Hind, E.J., Parsons, E.C.M., Woodbury, T.J. 2016.  Your science conference should have a code of conduct. Frontiers in Marine Science.]
